What is the difference between hand-stamping and engraving jewellery?

Here at Pink Vintage Jewellery, we offer both hand-stamped and engraved jewellery but what is the difference between the two?
Hand Stamping
Hand stamping is the most common technique used here at Pink Vintage Jewellery. It involves metal stamps, typically made of steel, that are struck with a hammer to leave an impression on the metal surface. We have stamps in uppercase, lowercase letters, and a numbers set.
Hand stamping is a technique that gives a handmade and rustic appearance to a piece of jewellery. Each letter or design is individually stamped, resulting in slight variations and imperfections that add to the charm of the piece. It's not an easy technique to learn and takes many years of practice to master. Rest assured that we pay great attention to detail and will only send out a piece of jewellery that we would be proud to wear ourselves.
The easiest way to personalise an item of jewellery is by adding letters or numbers to an item like our personalised spinner ring. You can create a truly unique piece of jewellery by adding names, dates or a manifestation.
We also have a growing range of design stamps, from paw prints, flowers, moon, stars, mountains and even a caravan! This allows us to create beautiful scenes in our designs like our sterling silver mountain necklace.

Engraving
Engraving is the process of cutting or carving a design into the surface of metal, using various tools such as gravers or rotary tools with diamond or carbide tips. This technique allows for intricate and detailed designs to be created, including fine lines, textures, and patterns.
At Pink Vintage Jewellery, we use a machine to do the engraving, ensuring consistent and precise results. This also enables us to engrave onto the back of a piece, expanding the possibilities like our birthday bracelet which can be engraved with a number on the front and a name on the back.
Ultimately, the choice between the two techniques depends on your personal preference and the desired overall aesthetic of your jewellery. If you prefer a more organic and natural look, hand-stamping might be the right option for you. If you prefer a more polished and refined look, engraving might be the better choice.
At Pink Vintage Jewellery we are committed to offering a wide range of personalised jewellery options to our customers. We take great pride in our ability to create custom pieces that reflect your unique personality and style. We welcome all custom orders are are always happy to discuss the best way to personalise your jewellery. So, if you have a specific idea in mind or would like to explore the options available to you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you, Nikki x
